Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), one of Spain’s biggest banks, is diving into the crypto game. BBVA just announced a new service that lets customers buy, sell, and transfer Bitcoin and Ethereum directly through its mobile app. Pretty cool, right?
This big move comes after the European Union’s new MiCA regulation kicked in, setting clear rules for handling crypto assets across EU countries. BBVA’s been working on this service since 2020, testing the waters through its Swiss branch before the EU regulations were in place. Earlier this year, the bank even started offering digital coin trading to its clients in Turkey.
And BBVA’s not the only major player getting into crypto. Germany’s DekaBank, which manages assets for the country’s massive Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, also launched a digital asset trading service recently. Looks like the crypto wave is finally hitting the big leagues!
